The noble house is one of the oldest buildings in this area. The palace was constructed between the 18th and the 19th centuries and is an example of the Pombaline civil residential architecture From a total of four floors, only the lower two are believed to date back to the beginning of the 18th century. The top floors have been added later by the Castilho family, who lived there until the mid-19th century.
